Sing Song Yoga Kids Yoga App Awarded Top App of the Year 2014

We are feeling the love and are grateful for the honor as our Sing Song Yoga kids yoga app has been named the “2014 Top App of the Year Award” in the “Apps for Healthy Habits” category by Creative Child Magazine!  Thank you heaps to the over 100 reviewers, made up of educators and parents, who put their hearts, time and expertise into reviewing our app.  We love that others are finding such value in our first-of-its-kind kids yoga app, which makes our beloved Sing Song Yoga program completely customizable for the user.

Sing Song Yoga iPhone & iPad App

The Sing Song Yoga App allows the user to customize his or her own yoga experience by selecting either:

  • one of the 39 preprogrammed Sing Song Yoga Sequences or
  • individual kids yoga poses

Each of the preprogrammed SSY Sequences have an end in mind.  Some of the more popular sequences are the “Bedtime Sequence,” the “Athlete’s Sequence” and the “I am Powerful Sequence.”

The free download includes one free sequence and 6 free poses.  This helps the user know if it’s a good fit for them before purchasing either a package, sequences or poses.

One fun feature to highlight is that kids love saving their own sequences with their names in them:

Awards Program Details

Creative Child Magazine’s Awards Program is unique in that all products submitted are reviewed by moms, music educators and early education professionals. Products are not reviewed by any one person. They are reviewed by many people-the very people who purchase them.

Each year, a 2-day event is held in Henderson, Nevada where over a hundred guest reviewers are invited to attend our organized review event at our local convention center. All products are divided into categories and displayed at various review stations. Guest reviewers are asked to sit and review each products at one station and then move to another station and so forth and so on. This allows for each product to be given multiple reviews.

A review form is provided to each guest to aid them in evaluating each product. The review forms are to include written comments and a score value based on criteria that corresponds to the product’s category.

Upon completion of the event all review forms are collected by Creative Child Magazine staff assistants. All scores are tabulated and comments are reviewed.

Later, based on the scores and comments certain products are then determined to be a finalist for DVD, CD, Book, Game and Toy of the Year. Only one product per category can win a Toy of the Year award, as well as, CD, DVD, Book and Game of the Year. The remaining finalists receive a prestigious Preferred Choice award. The Seal of Excellence is another prestigious award that is given to those products that are not finalists but do exceed expectations based on the criteria for nurturing creativity and education in children. Five Calming Holiday Poses Made Easy with Kids Yoga App

Last year, before our Sing Song Yoga App was available, I wrote a blog post about some great calming kids’ yoga poses for the Holidays, using poses from our DVD.  Now our SSY App makes it easy to line up the poses, save, and push play to enjoy the sequence as its own little video.  There are inevitably times during the holidays when life can be a bit stressful for our kids. So having this little tool in your pocket can be quite helpful in guiding your children back to feeling peaceful.

This quick video demonstrates using the Sing Song Yoga App to create this calming sequence.

Can a Tablet Actually Get Kids Moving?

Tablets are typically a source of screen time for kids.  During screen time the child is still, the eyes hold a fixed gaze, and the image on the screen is moving.  So as a teacher and a mom, I’m thrilled to encourage your kids to use the Sing Song Yoga® kids yoga app to transform their screen time into some “music and movement” time.

This whiteboard animation and jingle are a fun way to say the same thing…

When kids move, play and sing they use their brains well.
Building their brains is naturally fun.
Paving the brain roads and making connections
A well-developed brain makes learning easy and fun!

But too often now kids sit with one of these.
Which at times can be a bit of a concern.
So let’s use tablets to get kids moving
So we can see the benefits of moving return

Experts find that yoga helps kids
With focus, awareness, coordination and more.
A kids’ yoga studio on your TV
Find the Sing Song Yoga® App in the App Store.

So have fun encouraging your kids to use their tablets to keep moving!  And thanks in advance for sharing this post!

The Sing Song Yoga® App is available in the Apple App Store and is explained in detail in this former blog post.
